Bail Bond Payment Plans & Payment Options

How bail bond premiums are priced in California, what we accept, and how payment plans work when the full amount is not available tonight.

Almost nobody has the full bail amount available at 2am. That is what a bail bond is for — and where the bond premium itself is difficult, that is what a payment plan is for.

How bail bond pricing works in California

You do not pay the bail amount. You pay a premium — a percentage of the bail figure — and the bond covers the rest.

Bail bond premium rates in California are governed by rates filed with the California Department of Insurance. Rather than publish a number here that may not fit your situation, we will give you the exact figure on the phone once we know the bail amount and the charge. Anyone quoting you a firm price before knowing the booking is guessing.

Know the bail amount first. The premium is calculated from it, and the bail amount comes from the countywide schedule adopted under Penal Code § 1269b — revised annually by the superior court judges and weighted for aggravating factors. Locating the person and confirming that figure is free and takes a few minutes.

Payment plans

Where the premium cannot be paid in one go, we arrange payment plans. What is possible depends on the bail amount, the circumstances and who is signing — so we will not pretend there is a single standard offer. What we will do is tell you honestly what we can arrange before anything is signed.

What we will always do

  • Tell you the total cost before you commit
  • Explain what the co-signer is responsible for
  • Put the terms in writing
  • Answer “what happens if we cannot pay” honestly rather than avoiding it

What we will not do

  • Quote a price before knowing the booking
  • Promise a release time the jail controls
  • Push a bond where the person is being cited out and does not need one
  • Hide the co-signer’s obligations until signing

What we accept

We take payment at all three offices — Anaheim, Brea and La Habra — and can arrange payment remotely so nobody has to drive across the county in the middle of the night. Ask on the call which methods suit your situation; we will confirm what is available before you rely on it.

What the co-signer is agreeing to

Someone has to sign as indemnitor — usually a family member with stable local ties. It is worth understanding plainly what that means: the indemnitor is responsible for making sure the defendant appears in court, and carries financial responsibility connected to the bond if they do not.

This is the part people skim, and it matters most. If the defendant misses a court date, a bench warrant can issue under Penal Code § 978.5 and the bond position changes for the person who signed. We would rather you understand that clearly at the start than discover it later. See warrant bail bonds.

Before you call, if you can

  1. Full name and date of birth of the person in custody
  2. Roughly when and where the arrest happened
  3. Which agency arrested them, if you know
  4. Booking number, if you have it — and it is fine if you do not

We can work without most of this. It just makes the first few minutes faster.

Costs by charge type

The premium follows the bail amount, and the bail amount follows the charge. Charge-specific detail is on the individual pages: domestic violence, DUI, felony, misdemeanor, drug charges and warrants. All are listed under bail bond services.

Where we work from

Three offices, open 24 hours, and our only physical locations — see locations and areas we serve. Bail is posted at the jail, so we cover well beyond those three cities. Start at Orange County bail bonds for the county-wide picture, or North Orange County for the area around our offices.

Worried about the cost?

Say so on the call. It is a normal conversation for us, and there are usually more options than people expect.
