The Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood holds women only. It is the reason so many Los Angeles County families spend their first few hours calling the wrong building: they ring the Inmate Reception Center downtown, are told there is no record, and understandably assume something has gone badly wrong.

Nothing has gone wrong. Men and women are simply processed into different facilities in this county.

Key details

  • Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) — 11705 S. Alameda Street, Lynwood, CA 90262
  • Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Service, intake and administration: (323) 568-4500
  • Inmate information service and intake: (213) 473-6100
  • Jail visiting information: (323) 568-4520
  • An adult Type II facility holding female inmates, with an average daily population of roughly 1,300

The Sheriff’s Department states that the Inmate Reception Center has functional supervision over the reception unit here, so the two facilities are part of one county system even though they sit about twelve miles apart.

Check before you travel. Since 1 October 2023, Los Angeles County’s Pre-Arraignment Release Protocols mean many people arrested for non-violent, non-serious felonies and misdemeanours are released without money bail. Lynwood is a long drive from most of the county. Call first — see our Los Angeles County guide.

What we can and cannot help with

We can find out whether someone is held here, what release terms apply, and post a bond where one is required. We cannot direct the facility’s medical, housing or programme decisions, and we are not attorneys — questions about the case itself belong with one. Questions about care in custody go to the facility directly, on the numbers above.

Where we work

American Freedom Bail Bonds has no Los Angeles County office. Our three physical offices are Anaheim, Brea and La Habra, all in Orange County. We work Los Angeles County cases from our La Habra office on the county line. Paperwork is electronic and posting happens at the facility holding the person, so distance is rarely the limiting factor.
