Aliso Viejo is the newest city in Orange County, incorporated in 2001 and master-planned from the outset around a town centre and a cluster of corporate office campuses.

Who makes the arrest in Aliso Viejo

Aliso Viejo contracts its law enforcement to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff states it directly: “Aliso Viejo contracts with the Sheriff’s Department for all law enforcement needs.” Several other south county cities are policed the same way, including Mission Viejo and Lake Forest; further north, Stanton and Yorba Linda are too.

The Sheriff describes the Aliso Viejo assignment as a captain supervising three sergeants, eighteen patrol deputies, two special enforcement team deputies, one and a half investigator positions, two community services officers and an emergency management coordinator.

That changes the first few hours. There is no city jail to hold someone in while booking is sorted out. Deputies handle the arrest from the outset, which usually means a more direct route into the county system — typically the Orange County Intake Release Center at 550 N. Flower Street in Santa Ana, and if release does not happen first, county housing may be at the James A. Musick Facility in Irvine or Theo Lacy in Orange. The Sheriff publishes no fixed sequence and no timings, so confirm the current location rather than assuming it.

Where a bond can actually be posted for an Aliso Viejo arrest

There is no Aliso Viejo city jail and no city counter that takes bail, so nothing can be posted locally — the contract arrangement settles that rather than leaving it open. Under Penal Code section 1269b the authority sits with the officer in charge of the facility actually holding the person, which is why establishing the facility comes first.

The Sheriff publishes both posting points. The Intake Release Center, 550 N. Flower Street, Santa Ana, accepts bonds 24 hours a day on (714) 647-6085. Theo Lacy, 501 The City Drive South, Orange, accepts them daily between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on (714) 935-6905. Bonds are not accepted at Musick, even though it is the closest county facility to much of south county. Accepted forms are cash, bank cashier’s cheques, personal cheques (two forms of identification), money orders and traveller’s cheques, and bail for any court outside Orange County must be paid in cash.

How to find someone after an Aliso Viejo arrest

Because deputies handle the arrest, the county locator is the search path from the outset — there is no city system to check first. Have the full legal name and date of birth ready, and note that a very recent booking may not appear straight away. How bail is set

Under Penal Code section 1269b, the superior court judges of each county must adopt and annually revise a uniform countywide bail schedule, and the officer in charge of the jail where a person is held is among those authorised to approve and accept bail. In practice the amount is frequently fixed before anyone appears in front of a judge. Because that authority sits with the facility, posting on the schedule does not require waiting for a court date. We cannot promise how long any release takes.
