Not a Yorba Linda one – there isn’t one. Yorba Linda contracts its policing to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and operates no municipal jail. Why is there no Yorba Linda Police Department?
The city contracts law enforcement to the Orange County Sheriff rather than running its own force. Yorba Linda contracts with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for law-enforcement services.
Does the sheriff contract make release slower?
Not inherently – it changes the route rather than the speed. In one respect it removes a step, because there is no city-jail stage before a county transfer. Deputies handle the arrest from the outset and the person generally goes straight into the county system. We cannot guarantee any timeline either way.

Can bail still be posted straight away?
Often yes. Under Penal Code section 1269b the superior court judges of each county adopt and annually revise a uniform countywide bail schedule, and the officer in charge of the jail where the person is held is among those authorised to approve and accept bail. The City of Yorba Linda states plainly that it “contracts with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for Police Services”, covering patrol, traffic enforcement, collision and crime investigation, parking enforcement and crime prevention.
Why this is the most useful thing to know
In Fullerton or Buena Park, the right first call is the city jail — both run their own. In Yorba Linda there is nothing to call. Families who assume every Orange County city works the same way spend their first hour ringing a facility that does not exist.

The boundary question
Yorba Linda borders Placentia to the west and Brea to the north-west — both of which run their own police departments. An arrest a short distance either way is handled by a city force with its own booking process, not by the Sheriff.
To the east the city runs up against the county line toward Chino Hills in San Bernardino County, which is a different county system entirely. If the arrest happened out along the eastern edge, say so.

What happens after a domestic violence arrest in Yorba Linda?
Sheriff’s deputies handle the arrest and an Emergency Protective Order may be issued at or shortly after the scene. Under Family Code section 6256 an EPO expires at the close of judicial business on the fifth court day or the seventh calendar day, whichever is first. The code section decides the release path – PC 243(e)(1) requires no injury, while felony PC 273.5 and any PC 273.6 violation trigger the open-court hearing requirement in Penal Code 1270.1.
Does it matter that it is the middle of the night?
Not for reaching us, and not for posting. Posting on the countywide schedule does not require the courthouse to be open. What night-time does affect is the Yorba Linda Police Services counter, which publishes weekday daytime hours only.
