Its full official name is the Stephen K. Tamura – West Justice Center. Most people call it the West Justice Center, and locally it is often just “the Westminster courthouse” because it stands at 8141 13th Street in Westminster. All three refer to the same building. There is no separate Westminster court, and it is a different building from the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana and the North Justice Center in Fullerton.

Leave time for security. This is a full security facility: everyone entering passes through a weapons screening device and every hand-carried object is x-rayed. Weapons of any type are prohibited, and the court specifically names knives including pocket knives, scissors, corkscrews, mace, pepper spray and knitting needles among items the Sheriff’s Department may deem offensive or dangerous. There is no cloakroom, so anything questionable stays in the vehicle.

An Orange County felony booking is processed through the Intake Release Center at 550 North Flower Street in Santa Ana, which accepts bonds 24 hours a day. Some bookings are housed afterwards at Theo Lacy in Orange, where bonds are only accepted between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The amount comes from the 2026 Orange County Uniform Bail Schedule rather than from the jail. For serious and violent felonies and for specified domestic violence offenses, Penal Code § 1270.1 requires a hearing in open court here before release on own recognizance or on any amount other than the scheduled one. On a misdemeanor, Penal Code § 1270(a) entitles a defendant arraigned in custody to own recognizance release unless the court finds against it on the record.
If a date here has already been missed, expect a bench warrant and, where a bond was posted, a forfeiture starting the 180-day period under Penal Code § 1305. See also failure to appear.
