Irvine Bail Bonds

Service area — we have no Irvine office, and here is why that does not slow anything down

Let us be straightforward about geography first, because you can check it on a map in ten seconds and we would rather you heard it from us.

American Freedom Bail Bonds has no office in Irvine. Our three physical offices are in Anaheim, Brea and La Habra, in the north of the county. Irvine is roughly twenty-five miles south of the nearest of them. Any agency telling you it has an Irvine storefront is worth verifying before you rely on it — several advertised addresses in this city are virtual suites.

What actually matters is whether the distance slows anything down, and in practice it does not. A California bail bond is executed on paperwork and a posting at the facility, not on where you sit while signing. The documents can be completed electronically from anywhere, and the posting happens at whichever jail is holding the person.

The county jail in Irvine

Irvine contains one of the county’s three main custody facilities. The James A. Musick Facility is at 13420 Alton Parkway, Irvine, CA 92618.

As elsewhere in the county, booking and housing are usually separate steps. Most county bookings are processed at the Orange County Intake Release Center at 550 N. Flower Street in Santa Ana, with housing afterwards at Musick or the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange if the person is not released first. So the fact that Musick is in Irvine does not mean an Irvine arrestee is there — often they are not, at least not initially.

Who makes the arrest in Irvine

Irvine operates its own municipal police force. The Irvine Police Department is at One Civic Center Plaza, Irvine, CA 92606, with a published main number of (949) 724-7000.

Irvine is a master-planned city of roughly 310,000 people and is regularly ranked among the safest large cities in the United States. The arrest volume here is low relative to the population. What that means in practice is that the people we hear from in Irvine are very often calling about a first arrest, in a household where nobody has any frame of reference for what comes next — students at the University of California, Irvine, and professionals whose main concern is a licence, a visa status, or an employer finding out.

We are not attorneys and cannot advise you on any of those consequences. What we can do is deal with the custody and bail part quickly and without drama, and point you toward the parts we cannot help with.

How bail is set

Under Penal Code section 1269b, the superior court judges of each county must adopt and annually revise a uniform countywide bail schedule, and the officer in charge of the jail where the person is held is among those authorised to approve and accept bail. That means a scheduled amount is often available straight away, before any judge is involved.

Which courthouse handles an Irvine case

The court lists Irvine among the communities it serves, alongside Aliso Viejo, Corona del Mar, Costa Mesa, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and the surrounding unincorporated areas.

How we cover Irvine

Irvine is a service area, not an office location. Our Anaheim office is the closest of the three and handles most South County work. An agent can meet you at Musick, at the Intake Release Center in Santa Ana, or at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.

If speed is your concern, the honest answer is that the limiting factor is almost never the drive. It is how quickly the facility completes booking and how quickly the paperwork is signed — and both of those we can start on immediately, from the moment you call.

Charges we see most often in Irvine

  • DUI — by a wide margin the most common, often on the 405, 5 and 133 corridors. Vehicle Code section 23152 sets 0.08% for most drivers and 0.04% for commercial drivers and those carrying passengers for hire.
  • Domestic violence — Penal Code section 1270.1 requires a hearing in open court, on two court days’ written notice, before release on own recognisance or at a non-schedule amount for certain of these charges.
  • Misdemeanours and felony charges — Penal Code section 17 defines the categories and section 17(b) the wobbler rule.
  • Drug charges and warrants.
  • All bail services and payment plans.

Common questions

You have no Irvine office. Does that slow anything down?

In practice, no. The limiting factors are how quickly the facility completes booking and how quickly paperwork is signed, and neither depends on where our office is. Documents can be completed electronically, and posting happens at the facility holding the person.

The Musick jail is in Irvine. Is my relative there?

Not necessarily, and often not initially. Most county bookings are processed at the Intake Release Center in Santa Ana, with housing at Musick or Theo Lacy afterwards if the person is not released first.

Which courthouse handles an Irvine case?

The Harbor Justice Center at 4601 Jamboree Road in Newport Beach. The court lists Irvine among the communities it serves.

Will this affect a job, a licence or a visa?

We genuinely cannot tell you — we are a bail agency, not a law firm, and those questions belong with an attorney. We will not speculate about them, and you should be cautious of anyone in our industry who does.
