What makes this facility different
The rebuilt Musick was designed around rehabilitation rather than simple containment. It runs a direct-supervision model, where personnel stay inside the housing module around the clock and interact directly with people in custody instead of watching from a control booth. The building emphasises education and health services, natural light and murals — choices intended to reduce tension and support mental health.
In practical terms for families: people housed here are generally classified as lower-risk, and the environment is markedly less severe than Theo Lacy.
