The department has a jail facility on site – the city’s own pages place its Livescan machine in the jail. Depending on the charge and circumstances he may then be transferred into Orange County custody at the Intake Release Center, 550 N. Flower Street, Santa Ana. The arrest was on a Friday night. Do we wait until Monday?

No. We answer at any hour, every day. Two things help in Placentia specifically: under Penal Code section 1269b the officer in charge of a jail is among those authorised to approve and accept bail on the countywide schedule, so posting does not need the courthouse open – and the Placentia Police Department publishes front counter hours that include Saturdays, which is unusual in Orange County. Hours change, so confirm before travelling.

Brea borders Placentia. Our Brea office on Imperial Highway is a few minutes up Rose Drive or Kraemer Boulevard – not a marketing claim, just geography. Our Anaheim office is a short distance south. You do not have to come to either: paperwork can be completed electronically and an agent can meet you at the police department or the courthouse.

How long will it take to get released?

We will not give you a number, and you should be careful of any agency that does. Release timing depends on the charge, how quickly booking is completed and how quickly the facility processes the posting – none of which a bail agency controls. What we control is starting immediately and telling you the real position as we learn it.

Why the Saturday counter matters

Most Orange County police front counters are weekday-only. Westminster closes Fridays entirely; Los Alamitos is Monday–Thursday. Placentia publishing a Saturday window means a counter question arising from a Friday-night arrest can sometimes be resolved that weekend rather than waiting until Monday.

To be clear about the limits: counter hours are not custody hours, and posting bail never depended on the counter being open. But for paperwork questions, it is a real practical difference.

A note on what we will not tell you

Several agencies publish precise-sounding claims about Placentia — specific release windows in hours, or rules about who gets transferred and when. The Yorba Linda contrast, two miles east

Worth knowing if the arrest happened near the boundary: Yorba Linda has no police department of its own. It contracts to the Orange County Sheriff, so there is no city jail and the route runs into county custody from the outset. Placentia and Yorba Linda share a courthouse but not a starting point — and that changes which building you should be calling first.

What happens after a domestic violence arrest in Placentia?

Placentia Police handle the arrest and an Emergency Protective Order may be issued at or shortly after the scene. Under Family Code section 6256 an EPO expires at the close of judicial business on the fifth court day or the seventh calendar day, whichever is first. The code section then decides the release path – PC 243(e)(1) requires no injury, while felony PC 273.5 and any PC 273.6 violation trigger the open-court hearing requirement in Penal Code 1270.1.

Is the 10% bail premium set by law?

Not quite, and this is worth getting right. The premium on a California bail bond is based on rates filed with the California Department of Insurance. Ten per cent is the commonly filed rate, but describing it as a flat figure fixed by statute is inaccurate. What genuinely differs between agencies is flexibility on how the premium is paid.
