Orange County Jails

Theo Lacy Facility, Orange

501 The City Drive South, Orange, CA 92868 · Bail accepted 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. daily

Serving Southern California Since 1997 · Licence 1841014

Theo Lacy is the Orange County Sheriff’s Department maximum-security jail in the City of Orange. It is the county’s largest custody facility — and, critically, it does not accept bail around the clock.

The detail that catches families out. Theo Lacy accepts bonds only between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. If someone is held here at three in the morning, nobody can post a bond until the cashier opens. The Intake Release Center in Santa Ana is the facility that accepts bail 24 hours a day. Any agency telling you otherwise is not being straight with you.
