Orange County city custody
Fountain Valley Police Department Custody
A Temporary Holding facility on Slater Avenue — a 24-hour window, and what that means for how fast you need to move.
Fountain Valley operates a state-classified Temporary Holding facility at its Slater Avenue police headquarters. Under California Code of Regulations, Title 15, § 1006 that means confinement of 24 hours or less, pending release, transfer to another facility, or appearance in court — a quarter of the window a Type I city jail has.

What a 24-hour window means in practice
Either the person is released or cited, or they are moved into Orange County custody at the Intake Release Center in Santa Ana. Once that transfer happens the release is processed there, in a far longer queue — see jail transfers. So the useful work is done on the phone, early: confirm the charge, check for holds, have the bond ready.
Getting the charge, and the bail figure
The Sheriff’s Inmate Information System requires an account and does not display inmate charges. Call the department, call OCSD Inmate Records on (714) 647-4666, or ask us, then work the figure out with Orange County bail amount lookup.
West county varies sharply by city
Fountain Valley sits among cities with very different custody arrangements. Huntington Beach is a Type I jail with a 96-hour window and published bail rules; Cypress and Westminster are Temporary Holding like Fountain Valley; Stanton has no police department at all. Establish the arresting agency first.
