Century Regional Detention Facility
Lynwood — where women are held in Los Angeles County custody
The Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood holds women only. It is the reason so many Los Angeles County families spend their first few hours calling the wrong building: they ring the Inmate Reception Center downtown, are told there is no record, and understandably assume something has gone badly wrong.
Nothing has gone wrong. Men and women are simply processed into different facilities in this county.
Key details
- Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) — 11705 S. Alameda Street, Lynwood, CA 90262
- Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Service, intake and administration: (323) 568-4500
- Inmate information service and intake: (213) 473-6100
- Jail visiting information: (323) 568-4520
- An adult Type II facility holding female inmates, with an average daily population of roughly 1,300
The Sheriff’s Department states that the Inmate Reception Center has functional supervision over the reception unit here, so the two facilities are part of one county system even though they sit about twelve miles apart.
Check before you travel. Since 1 October 2023, Los Angeles County’s Pre-Arraignment Release Protocols mean many people arrested for non-violent, non-serious felonies and misdemeanors are released without money bail. Lynwood is a long drive from most of the county. Call first — see our Los Angeles County guide.
What we can and cannot help with
We can find out whether someone is held here, what release terms apply, and post a bond where one is required. We cannot direct the facility’s medical, housing or program decisions, and we are not attorneys — questions about the case itself belong with one. Questions about care in custody go to the facility directly, on the numbers above.
Where we work
American Freedom Bail Bonds has no Los Angeles County office. Our three physical offices are Anaheim, Brea and La Habra, all in Orange County. We work Los Angeles County cases from our La Habra bail bonds office on the county line. Paperwork is electronic and posting happens at the facility holding the person, so distance is rarely the limiting factor.
State classification: Type II
The California Board of State and Community Corrections classifies this facility as Type II. Under California Code of Regulations, Title 15, § 1006, that means a county jail — used for detention pending arraignment, during trial, and on a sentence of commitment.
The classification is the regulatory limit for the building, not a prediction for any individual — but it tells you how much time the situation realistically allows. What kind of jail is holding them? sets out every classification and the class of every facility we cover in both counties.

Women in Los Angeles County custody are held here rather than downtown, which is the most common wasted trip in the county. Before travelling, see visiting someone in jail.
Please note: American Freedom Bail Bonds is a licensed bail bond agency, not a law firm. Nothing on this page is legal advice, and we cannot guarantee a bail amount, a release time, eligibility for release, or the outcome of any case. Los Angeles County release rules changed substantially in October 2023 and court and jail information can change — always confirm details directly with the facility or the court. Charges we are called about, and where bail is posted
Century Regional in Lynwood is where women are held in the Los Angeles County system, and it is usually a transfer destination rather than the place someone is first booked.
- Domestic violence bail — the charge type with the most restrictive release rules. Penal Code § 1270.1 requires a hearing in open court before release at any figure other than the published scheduled amount, which is why weekend timing matters so much here.
- DUI, drug charges, warrants, felony and misdemeanor bail.
If a bond is posted before that transfer completes, release is normally far quicker. Men are processed through the Inmate Reception Center instead. Our La Habra office is on the county line and open 24 hours, with Brea and Anaheim behind it. See Los Angeles County bail bonds.
